Mercado Libre Opens First Distribution Center in the US
Uruguay-based e-commerce and financial services company Mercado Libre announced the opening of its first distribution center in Texas, United States. This move aims to better serve sellers in the United States and expand the range of products available to buyers in Mexico.
David Geisen, Director General and Senior Vice President of Commerce for Hispanics, Mercado Libre Mexico said the launch of the company’s first US site allows it to further diversify the product offerings available to Mexican buyers, by directly showcasing the offerings of North American sellers. “We are thrilled to introduce this model that enhances the value proposition for users, especially as we approach a significant event like the Hot Sale,” he says.
According to MercadoLibre, this new center empowers US sellers already active on Mercado Libre or looking to expand their businesses on the marketplace. The new distribution center will streamline the logistics process, enabling efficient distribution of their products through Mercado Libre's partners to Latin American buyers, starting initially in Mexico.
Mexican consumers can now anticipate quicker delivery times, with packages arriving from the United States within two to five days in major cities. They will also benefit from free shipping and interest-free installment options for these purchases.
