Canada-based precious metals miner Fortuna Mining provided an update on its US$19 million generative exploration program, detailing progress at its Centauro and La Carmen projects in Mexico. The company stated the program is focused on identifying and advancing its next generation of projects.

At the Centauro gold and silver project in Chihuahua, where Fortuna Mining obtained option rights in February 2025, fieldwork has commenced. Recent mapping and sampling have confirmed the presence of a 2km by 3km silica-capped plateau with features consistent with a preserved hydrothermal system. Fortuna Mining announced it will begin a first-pass drill campaign at the project in October to test for a low to intermediate sulfidation gold and silver system at depth.

At the La Carmen project in Queretaro, the company is advancing early-stage exploration. Mapping outlined three main zones across a 5km by 6km area, characterized by features indicative of a potential epithermal system. Fortuna Mining is currently focused on securing surface access agreements over the main target areas, which will allow it to commence detailed geological mapping and sampling ahead of a maiden drill campaign.

The Mexican projects, along with those overseas, are part of Fortuna Mining’s generative exploration activities across its portfolio, with a strong focus on identifying and advancing its project pipeline. “With a 2025 Greenfields exploration budget of US$19 million, complementing the US$22 million brownfields exploration budget, the generative teams have been active in advancing several promising projects," said Paul Weedon, Senior Vice President of Exploration, Fortuna Mining.
