This signals a shift from a confrontational approach to a more collaborative stance toward the sector. Canada-based Torex Gold announced new drill results from its exploration program at Media Luna West and initial drill testing at Media Luna East. The company believes these findings will support its projected annual gold equivalent production of over 450,000oz.

New Regulatory Framework Set to Boost Mexico’s Mining Industry
Under President Claudia Sheinbaum’s administration, a renewed vision for the industry is emerging, one that seeks to reactivate mining operations while ensuring sustainable and responsible practices, said Fernando Aboitiz, Head of the Extractive Activities Coordination Unit, Ministry of Economy, during Mexico Mining Forum 2025 PDAC. As part of this effort, the government is developing a new regulatory framework in collaboration with the Mexican Mining Chamber (CAMIMEX), which is expected to bring greater clarity to the sector by June 2025.
