Urban mobility platform Cabify is introducing motorcycle delivery services, promising efficiency, security and speed as it continues to grow in Latin America. The use of motorcycles could contribute to the development of the Mexican aftermarket industry.

"Cabify Delivery is the fastest way to arrange the movement of objects within a city, and thanks to technological innovation and constantly listening to our community, we continue to enhance the value we bring to our customers. With the addition of motorcycles, the service will become even more efficient, agile and price competitive," said Federico Piekarz, Head of Sales of Cabify Argentina, Uruguay and Mexico.

The Spanish company’s decision to expand its services in Mexico and Latin America follows the popularity of the Cabify Delivery service, launched last year to great acceptance in all the markets where it became available, with users highlighting security and speed.

The expanded Cabify Delivery service includes low-cost deliveries using motorcycles. Users can add multiple stops in a single trip while paying only per trip and not per number of deliveries. Cabify also aims to apply a zero-carbon emission motorcycle delivery policy through electric fleets but car deliveries are still available on the platform.

Along with the delivery service expansion, Cabify will use a new system to provide proof of delivery using the recipient’s documentation identity, which will be available only through API integrations and on Cabify’s web platform. In addition, over 4,500 companies have hired the Cabify for Businesses service, which offers a safe alternative to transporting a company’s employees in a private vehicle with a Cabify driver.

The company’s decision to deliver through motorcycles while already offering mobility services through cars, adds to the growth of the Mexican aftermarket industry. The use of motorcycles and cars within mobility solutions are new business niches that have helped the industry develop, told Óscar Balcázar, Director America Region, GiPA, to MBN.

“Motorcycles are a good example [of new business niches to develop within the aftermarket segment]. Although it is not a major market, it will continue evolving, given the appearance of new businesses where the motorcycle is an important component, such as Rappi or Uber Eats. Cars that work with Uber, DiDi, Cabify, and even regular taxis present another area of opportunity. This sector has grown and even though it will not surpass private vehicles, it is worth creating specific value propositions that cater to it,” said Balcázar.
