BRP announced it would build a new manufacturing plant in Queretaro that aid the company on its electromobility transition. This plant represents a US$69.4 million investment that will generate 527 new jobs and will produce Can-Am’s, a two-wheel electric motorcycle.

The plant will begin producing the Can-Am Origin and Can-Am Pulse, BRP’s latest models, in March 2024. The motorcycles are expected to launch in the summer of that year. The plant was designed with the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification in mind. This certification provides a guideline for building health-conscious, efficient and cost-saving green buildings, according  to the USGBC. BRP will also provide for an accessible and inclusive environment for all employees with jobs that can adapt to different people.

The company is looking forward to working in Mexico. “We are excited to begin construction of this new state-of-the-art electric vehicle manufacturing facility in Queretaro, Mexico, on the same campus where we are already producing our Sea-Doo jet skis and ROTAX engines,” said Sandy Scullion, Chairman Powersports Group, BRP, according to Cluster Industrial. "Our teams are hard at work and our electric vehicle journey is just beginning. We want to become the benchmark for electric recreational vehicles."

Mexico has over 70 percent of BRP's global workforce. For BRP, electromobility is the next step and it seeks to maintain its vehicles’ quality during the transition. “Going electric is a natural part of the evolution of our business, but it also represents BRP's understanding and embrace of our commitment to our planet,” said Annie Paquet, Vice President Human Resources, BRP.

Mexico’s vehicle fleet includes over 5 million motorcycles but more people are interested in acquiring these vehicles, told Alejandro Calderón, Director General, Calderón Autopartes, to MBN.
