SICT, Transport Chambers Unite to Strengthen the Sector
The Minister of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation (SICT) met with representatives from the transportation industry to discuss strategies to strengthen road infrastructure and security.
The meeting, held by Jesús Esteva, Minister of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation, addressed various proposals and commitments previously discussed with President Claudia Sheinbaum. Participants included representatives from Mexico’s National Chamber of Cargo Transportation (CANACAR), National Chamber of Passenger and Tourism Transport (CANAPAT), Confederation of Industrial Chambers of Mexico (CONCAMIN), Business Coordinating Council (CCE), Mexican Association of Highway Concessionaires (AMCIV), and the National Association of Private Transport (ANTP).
One of the central topics discussed was security on the federal road network. Progress was highlighted in the Balam Program and the marking of transport units, two key initiatives aimed at strengthening the protection of transport operators and road users. Additionally, road infrastructure strategies were analyzed to improve the competitiveness and efficiency of transportation in the country.
Another significant point of discussion was the labor integration of migrants into the transportation sector. In collaboration with CONCAMIN and the CCE, a program was proposed to create job opportunities for migrants, with a monitoring system implemented by SICT to ensure equitable access and training for beneficiaries.
During the meeting, the Government of Mexico reaffirmed its commitment to the modernization and security of federal transportation, aiming to guarantee efficient, safe, and competitive transportation nationwide.
