The Mexican Association of Hydrocarbon Companies (AMEXHI) has expressed support for the federal government's new Strategic Plan to Strengthen PEMEX for the 2025-2035 period. AMEXHI recognizes the plan's objectives of stabilizing PEMEX's finances, improving its operations, and strengthening Mexico's national hydrocarbon production.

AMEXHI celebrates that the plan identifies strategic alliances with domestic and international private companies as a key element for achieving these goals. The document prioritizes joint development of discovered fields like Trion and Zama, as well as mature, frontier, and non-conventional fields.

The association also supports the plan's goal of increasing domestic natural gas production. This is seen as crucial for reducing Mexico's dependence on natural gas imports, which primarily come from the United States. Increased domestic production is expected to stimulate the petrochemical industry and create local jobs and investments.

The association has stated it is prepared to continue dialogue and collaboration with PEMEX and President Claudia Sheinbaum's administration to achieve the plan's goals. The association noted that productive alliances based on transparent and competitive contracts have already contributed to Mexico's energy sector. From 2016 to 2025, these alliances have resulted in the production of 116Mb/d of crude, the discovery and development of 22 hydrocarbon fields, and nearly US$40 billion in investments.

AMEXHI believes that collaboration between the private sector and the federal government can achieve the plan's goals, creating a more robust and sustainable energy sector. This includes stabilizing payments to PEMEX's partners, suppliers, and contractors to foster a more attractive investment climate.
