PEMEX Responds to Hydrocarbon Leaks After Heavy Rains
PEMEX is responding to a series of hydrocarbon leaks and natural seep dispersions triggered by heavy rains across several regions of the country, particularly along the coast and in northern Veracruz.
According to the state-owned company, intense rainfall has increased the risk of landslides and the spread of hydrocarbons from natural seeps, as well as caused isolated containment losses in some pipelines. Specialized PEMEX teams were deployed immediately to contain and recover hydrocarbons, installing barriers and oleophilic booms to mitigate environmental impact.
PEMEX said it is working closely with federal and local authorities to ensure operational and environmental safety, while monitoring the affected areas continuously. The company emphasized that its industrial safety and environmental protection protocols remain active as a preventive measure amid ongoing adverse weather conditions.
