Chamber of Deputies Approves Federal Budget for 2025
The Chamber of Deputies has approved the 2025 Federal Expenditure Budget (PEF) in general terms, despite concerns raised by opposition parties over reductions in public spending in crucial areas such as health, security, investment, and other sectors.
Government Reports 99% Progress in Judicial Candidate Selection
Of the 18,447, 10,959, and 3,805 candidates registered with the Evaluation Committees of the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial Branches, respectively, 11,014 (59.7%), 10,877 (99.2%), and 1,046 (27.4%) have advanced to the next stage of the selection process. These candidates will compete for 881 judicial positions in the upcoming June elections.
Secondary Laws on Women's Rights Approved
Claudia Sheinbaum enacted presidential decrees introducing constitutional reforms to promote equality, incorporate a gender perspective, safeguard women’s right to live free from violence, and eliminate the gender wage gap. Amendments were made to the General Law for Equality Between Women and Men, the General Law on Women's Access to a Life Free of Violence, the General Law of National Public Security System, the Federal Labor Law, and the Law for State Workers.
