Orión Hernández. President López Obrador has confirmed the recovery of Orión Hernández's body, who was kidnapped by Hamas in Israel during the attack on Oct. 7. According to reports and information from Mexican authorities, Orión Hernández was killed in the initial days of his captivity. López Obrador also assured that there are no more Mexican nationals being held hostage by Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

Lithium Availability. López Obrador announced that progress will be made in lithium availability in Mexico before the end of his term. He mentioned that CONAHCYT is developing technology to extract lithium from clay. “Mexico has the raw materials needed for future electric vehicles, including ample copper. The automotive sector will benefit the most.

Salina Cruz. López Obrador explained that the breakwater in the Port of Salina Cruz has been completed, facilitating continuous ship arrivals. With a depth of 24m, the port can accommodate large container ships, becoming an alternative route to the Panama Canal. López Obrador mentioned that there is interest in constructing another route from Salina Cruz to Coatzacoalcos, alongside the existing confined route.

López Obrador also added that there is a proposal for an alternative cargo route project to reduce transit times, garnering substantial interest. He detailed that foreign and Mexican capital will fund the investment, with Mexican predominance. 

Recognizing Palestine as a State. López Obrador stated that the issue of recognizing Palestine as a State is being considered diplomatically, and a formal stance will be taken at the appropriate time. This follows the recent recognition of Palestine by countries such as Ireland, Norway, and Spain.
