National Guard to Inspect Fuel Transport / Health Targets Met

New Diagnostic Center in Tlalpan. Minister of Health David Kershenobich announced the construction of a High Specialty Diagnostic Center in Tlalpan, located near the National Institute of Genomic Medicine. The facility aims to strengthen radiological care, specifically MRI and PET scans, and serve as a training hub for specialists.

IMSS-Bienestar Expansion. Alejandro Svarch, Director, IMSS-Bienestar, reported the inauguration of 15 hospitals and four health centers in 2025. He announced that in 1Q26, new hospitals will open in Mexico City (Women's Oncology), Merida, Tamaulipas, and Morelos.

ISSSTE Surpasses 2025 Goals. Martí Batres, Director, ISSSTE, confirmed the institute exceeded its operational targets. The agency performed 308,579 surgeries, surpassing the 300,000 goal, and provided over 24.2 million consultations, up from 22 million in 2024.

IMSS Operational Growth. Zoé Robledo, Director, IMSS, reported that the institute provided 14 million more services than in 2024. Achievements included 1.78 million surgeries, a 29% increase, a 22% rise in specialty consultations, and 104 million family medicine consultations.

Fertilizer Production Advances. President Claudia Sheinbaum highlighted advancements in the recovery and modernization of Mexico's fertilizer production plants, aimed at ensuring self-sufficiency and supporting small-scale farmers. She recalled that previous administrations privatized much of PEMEX’s chemical industry, leading to a heavy reliance on imports.

Sheinbaum noted that thanks to the recovery of facilities like Fertinal, initiated by former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, production has resumed. She emphasized that the operation is now generating sufficient profits to fund the continued modernization of the plants.

National Guard to Inspect Fuel Transportation. President Sheinbaum announced new control measures for fuel transportation to combat huachicol (fuel-theft), authorizing the National Guard to stop and inspect vehicles to verify compliance with regulations.

Sheinbaum explained that fuel transport units must now carry a QR code containing detailed information about the cargo and its origin. Vehicles lacking this code or failing to meet regulations will be detained, a measure she described as part of a strategy to ensure control and transparency in the energy sector.

Sheinbaum Acknowledges US Ambassador's Support. President Sheinbaum acknowledged the collaboration of the United States Ambassador to Mexico, Ronald Johnson, highlighting his role as a key liaison in recent diplomatic efforts. She noted that the diplomat has consistently supported requests to establish communication with the White House.

Sheinbaum specifically mentioned that the Ambassador acted as a facilitator for a recent call with President Trump, helping to explain the agenda beforehand to ensure the conversation's success.
