Oracle has launched the limited preview of Oracle Database@AWS, a new service that allows customers to run Oracle Exadata Database Service on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) within Amazon Web Services (AWS). Initially available in the US East region, the service provides a fully integrated experience for deploying, managing, and using Oracle Exadata Database Service natively within the AWS environment, a significant step in cloud migration for Oracle customers.

The new offering enables the migration of Oracle Database workloads, including Oracle Exadata and Oracle Real Application Cluster (RAC), to the cloud. By providing a low-latency network connection between Oracle databases and AWS applications, Oracle Database@AWS facilitates seamless integration of business data stored in Oracle databases with AWS services, such as Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), analytics services, and advanced AI and ML tools. Oracle will manage and operate the Oracle Exadata Database Service, ensuring that customers benefit from the robust performance and reliability of Oracle’s cloud infrastructure.

“Until now, replicating the performance and functionality of Oracle Database on Exadata within AWS was impossible. With Oracle Database@AWS, customers can finally enjoy this experience, with a straightforward migration path for critical on-premises workloads, enabling them to prioritize modernization efforts by simplifying daily management and operations,” says Dave McCarthy, Vice President of Research, IDC.

This new service also offers a unified platform for managing databases, billing, and customer support. It also offers a secure, integrated way to connect and analyze data between Oracle Database services and applications on AWS, enabling faster and deeper insights without the need to build new data pipelines.

Oracle in Mexico

Oracle aims to be the preferred solution for entrepreneurs and rapidly growing organizations seeking to establish or expand their presence in Mexico and Latin America, says Gustavo Mousalli, Vice President, Oracle NetSuite, to MBN.  With a proven track record of serving hundreds of customers in Mexico and thousands across the region, Oracle remains committed to supporting entrepreneurs and businesses in their growth.

Oracle recently launched a new Oracle Cloud Region in Monterrey, becoming the first hyperscaler provider to establish two cloud regions in Mexico. This expansion is expected to offer Mexican enterprises enhanced digital availability, compliance with local regulations, and lower cloud operating costs, as reported by MBN.
