Dart Container Corporation has renewed its Distintivo Azul certification for its manufacturing plants in Baja California and the State of Mexico,  reaffirming its commitment to preventing plastic pellet loss and promoting environmental sustainability. The certification is valid for three years.

Plastic pellets, essential for producing plastic goods, can harm ecosystems if released. To tackle this, the Operation Clean Sweep initiative sets standards for pellet containment in manufacturing. In Mexico, ANIPAC adopted the program in 2011 under the Zero Pellet Loss initiative.

CIATEQ audits companies on best practices in handling, transporting, and disposing of pellets. The Distintivo Azul represents the highest standard, awarded to only seven companies in Mexico, including Dart.

“We are proud to lead in preventing and responsibly managing pellet loss,” said Gerardo Pedra Rocha, Regional Manager for Government Affairs and Recycling, Latin America. “The industry has a duty to protect the environment and support a circular economy.”

Headquartered in Mason, Michigan, Dart operates 30+ facilities across three countries. Its products include foodservice containers, to-go packaging, and the iconic red SOLO cup, with sustainability central to its operations.
