At Foro MX 2025, industry leaders, government officials, and civil society representatives gathered to discuss the transformation of food systems, highlighting sustainability as a cornerstone of Mexico’s industrial future. Organized by Tetra Pak Mexico, the event brought together companies and institutions under the theme “Innovation with Purpose: Toward a New Industrial Pact.”

Ramiro Ortiz, director of Tetra Pak Mexico, opened the forum by emphasizing the scale of the challenge. “The industry faces global pressures—climate change, digital transformation, evolving consumer demands—and addressing them requires collaboration, innovation, and a shared vision,” he said.

The forum included three expert panels. The first panel focused on reducing the environmental impact of production, with participants highlighting how climate change and biodiversity loss threaten raw material availability and the stability of supply chains. The second panel addressed circularity, with experts stressing that circular business models must extend beyond waste management and recycling to a comprehensive rethinking of distribution systems and material use. The third panel brought together representatives from consumer goods and retail companies to discuss communication strategies, arguing that transparency and evidence-based marketing can influence consumption patterns and strengthen brand trust.

A keynote from sustainability expert John Elkington, co-creator of the “Triple Bottom Line” concept, addressed global megatrends and their relevance to Mexico’s industrial model. Elkington outlined the risks of inaction as well as the opportunities for companies that integrate sustainability into their core strategies.

The event attracted participants from a diverse range of sectors, including Grupo Herdez, Walmart Mexico & Central America, Bio Pappel, Orbia, Consejo Nacional Agropecuario, SEMARNAT, CESPEDES, CANAINCA, Ecolana, PPG Comex, Grupo Modelo, and Telcel.
