HEINEKEN, Fundacion Azteca Lead Reforestation in Monterrey
HEINEKEN Mexico and Fundacion Azteca carried out a reforestation initiative in Monterrey, for the third consecutive year, planting more than 500 native trees and pollinator plants at Parque Niños Heroes as part of the program Un Nuevo Bosque para Brindar un Mundo Mejor (A New Forest for a Better World)
The initiative, aligned with HEINEKEN’s global sustainability strategy Brindar un Mundo Mejor (Provide a Better World), seeks to support environmental restoration and promote social participation through volunteer work. More than 500 volunteers, including employees, community members, and representatives from both organizations, joined the event.
Over three years, the program has organized 18 reforestation events across several states, planting more than 25,000 trees and pollinator plants with the participation of over 8,000 volunteers. “Each tree planted today is a commitment to continue building a better world,” said Oriol Bonaclocha, CEO, HEINEKEN México.
The initiative supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11, which focuses on promoting sustainable cities and communities. HEINEKEN México has implemented reforestation projects, watershed restoration, and resource efficiency programs to improve urban and social environments.
In 2025, HEINEKEN México and Fundación Azteca plan to hold five volunteer events nationwide. Three have been completed in Guadalajara, Mexico City, and Monterrey, while the remaining two are scheduled for later this year in other regions.
