Leon Hosts Sustainability Forum on Green Strategies
Business leaders, government officials, and multilateral representatives gathered in Leon, Guanajuato, for the 11th International Forum on Sustainability and Social Responsibility to discuss actionable strategies for sustainable development. Organized by the US–Mexico Chamber of Commerce’s Guanajuato chapter (USMCOC) and the Bajío Cleaner Production Center (CPLB), the forum was held under the theme “11 Years of Actions That Transform Tomorrow.”
Cristina Villaseñor, Guanajuato’s Minister of Economy, said the forum aimed to “share experiences and tools for eco-efficiency, the circular economy, and environmental management to boost productivity, reduce the ecological footprint, and strengthen the region’s industrial value chain.” She noted that sustainability is increasingly seen as a strategic investment crucial for global competitiveness, helping companies gain efficiency and access to international markets.
The event featured keynote speeches and panel discussions on energy transition, green financing, circular economy, social inclusion, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Technical sessions highlighted Michelin’s regional sustainability strategy, explored the USMCA’s impact on the automotive and rail sectors, and examined the role of urban planning in sustainable development.
The opening session included notable attendees such as Johannes Dobinger of UNIDO, Enrique Salomón Rosas from the federal Ministry of Economy (SE), and Óscar Del Cueto of Canadian Pacific Kansas City Mexico.
