Mexico Reviews National Refrigerant Management Plan
Mexico’s Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT) reviewed the National Refrigerant Life-Cycle Management Plan to identify improvement opportunities and validate the document with key stakeholders in the value chain.
The review focused on strengthening the network of Recovery and Recycling Centers for Refrigerants (CRRR) and Collection and Destruction Centers (CAyD), as well as increasing visibility of their work to promote greater recovery and regeneration of refrigerant gases.
The workshop aimed to consolidate a technical document to help prevent and reduce emissions of ozone-depleting substances (ODS) and hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), support circular economy models, and foster environmentally sound, economically viable, and socially responsible refrigerant management.
The hybrid workshop brought together 100 participants in person and 37 online, providing a space for dialog, trust, and commitment among industry stakeholders. SEMARNAT reaffirmed its commitment to international agreements, ozone layer protection, and climate action.
