Starbucks Mexico has launched the 11th edition of its flagship program, “Todos Sembramos Café.” From June 23 to Aug. 4, 2025, for every bag of whole bean coffee purchased in-store or online, one rust-resistant coffee plant will be donated to farming communities in Chiapas, Veracruz and Puebla—regions that account for more than 75% of Mexico’s coffee production.

Since its inception in 2014, the initiative has delivered over 4.8 million rust‑resistant plants, impacting more than 20,000 smallholder farmers. In 2025, Starbucks expects to surpass 5.6 million plants delivered.

Environmental stewardship is central to the initiative. In collaboration with the Starbucks Farmer Support Center in Chiapas, the program promotes regenerative agriculture, installs weather stations for precision farming, and deploys “ecomills” that reduce water usage in wet processing by up to 90%. In 2022, Starbucks partnered with the Autonomous University of Chapingo to fund soil analysis laboratories in Huatusco, Veracruz, which provide vital nutrient diagnostics and customized fertilizer recommendations to improve yields and reduce chemical runoff.

Reflecting on the program's impact, Sarai Jimenez, Director of Reputation & ESG, Starbucks Mexico, said the initiative has evolved “from an emergency response to a long‑term transformation movement. Through this cause, we generate long-lasting social impact — building rural resilience and improving productivity for coffee-farming families.”
