Grupo Bimbo, the global leader in baking goods, has officially pledged its commitment to the United Nations' Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs). These guide businesses on fostering gender equality and empowering women in the workplace, market, and community.

The seven WEPs encompass corporate leadership at the highest level; fair treatment for all employees regardless of gender; health, safety, and well-being of collaborators; education and training for professional advancement; business development, supply chain, and marketing practices; community initiatives and advocacy; and measurement and reporting.

Grupo Bimbo is poised to accomplish substantial advancements in gender equality by 2030 through a comprehensive commitment to these principles. With a targeted goal of achieving a 40% representation of female talent in leadership positions globally, the company is set to make significant strides toward fostering inclusive workplaces. Concurrently, Grupo Bimbo aims to bolster economic autonomy by implementing at least one Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)-focused economic autonomy project in each organization. The company's commitment extends to ensuring diverse representation by aligning marketing and communication strategies with the rich tapestry of communities it serves. Furthermore, Grupo Bimbo is resolute in addressing gender-specific concerns, actively working to eliminate workplace harassment, discrimination, and gender-based violence. To complement these efforts, the company is dedicated to promoting gender education and awareness initiatives among its teams and business partners.

Daniel Servitje, President and CEO, Grupo Bimbo, emphasized that gender equity is not just a goal, but a fundamental action that companies must drive to build spaces where everyone has equal opportunities to reach their full potential. “We are proud to globally join the UN Women's Empowerment Principles, reaffirming our commitment to accelerating the construction of a more equitable world," he asserted.

Previously, Grupo Bimbo had already signed these principles locally in countries including Mexico, Uruguay, Peru, Argentina, and Chile. At the global level, Grupo Bimbo actively supports initiatives promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, including DEI seminars to raise awareness among the workforce, Leadership Circles, mentoring and support program for the development of female talent in leadership positions, establishment of a Central Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee to monitor strategy objectives and share best practices, and an accelerated mentorship program for women leaders, among others.
