IMSS, Red CCE Launch Childcare Model to Support Working Parents
IMSS and Red CCE por la Primera Infancia (Red CCE) partnered to introduce a new childcare model designed to support employees with young children and advance family-friendly workplace policies in Mexico.
IMSS introduced the Centros de Atención y Cuidado Infantil (CECI) model, which aims to expand quality childcare access for children aged 0 to five, providing services that support their development while facilitating working parents’ responsibilities. It seeks to address the talent retention and workforce participation challenges related to early childhood care. Both organizations highlighted the disproportionate domestic care burden placed on women and the need to improve conditions that enable their sustained engagement in the labor market.
Red CCE promotes policies that enhance workplace inclusivity, such as dedicated lactation spaces, flexible working hours for parental care, and childcare support programs. “These initiatives foster environments that help retain talent by supporting employees’ family needs,” says Paloma Infestas, Head of Education, Fundación Coppel.
Family-friendly practices are key to balancing professional and personal responsibilities, thereby improving workforce stability, says Fuencisla García, Coordinator of Early Childhood Projects and Partnerships, Fundación FEMSA.
The model includes infrastructure expansion, specialized training for childcare staff, and flexible care solutions aligned with family needs.
