Mexico reaffirmed its commitment to education as a central element of national transformation during a tour led by President Claudia Sheinbaum and Mario Delgado, Minister of Education. The visits to Puebla, Tlaxcala, Hidalgo, San Luis Potosi, Queretaro, Michoacan, and the State of Mexico underscored public education as a constitutional right and a priority for the administration.

During the tour, Delgado said that education remains the most effective path to building a more equitable and inclusive country.  In Puebla, the federal government highlighted scholarship programs benefiting students at all levels. Over 600,000 secondary school students receive the Rita Cetina Universal Scholarship, 300,000 are supported by the Benito Juárez Universal Scholarship, and nearly 30,000 benefit from the Jóvenes Escribiendo el Futuro program. In addition, The School is Ours (LEEN) has reached over 4,000 basic education schools and 615 high schools, supporting almost 700,000 students, while new facilities are under construction to expand access to upper secondary education.

In Tlaxcala, scholarships are reinforcing coverage in basic, middle, and higher education, while LEEN strengthens school infrastructure and encourages community participation. In Hidalgo, over 2,000 schools and 164,000 students have benefited from LEEN, alongside over 400,000 students supported by the Becas para el Bienestar program. A new national high school campus in Tizayuca will create 450 additional spaces.

In San Luis Potosi, 170,000 students are scholarship recipients, and over 2,500 schools have received LEEN funding. In Queretaro, Sheinbaum announced continued improvements to teachers’ working conditions, seen as essential to the consolidation of the New Mexican School (NEM). In Michoacan, the NEM model was presented as an approach that integrates science, humanism, and values to shape critical and responsible citizens.

In the State of Mexico, parents and school communities were called on to remain engaged in strengthening the education system through active participation with authorities.

According to Delgado, over 100,000 people took part in activities during the tour, reflecting public backing for a project that positions education at the center of policy priorities.
