Nuevo Leon Expands Efforts to Inform Seniors of Their Rights
The government of Nuevo Leon is expanding its efforts to inform workers, unions, and companies about retirement rights and benefits, aiming to strengthen financial and social security among older adults.
Federico Rojas, Nuevo Leon’s Minister of Labor, recently hosted a session to provide clear guidance on pensions, housing benefits, and inheritance processes. The event was organized alongside the Directorate of Continuing Education, Professionalization, and Labor Certification.
Rojas says that timely information is essential to help seniors avoid fraud. “An informed society is one that guarantees labor rights,” he says.
The session took place at the Federation of Autonomous Workers’ Unions (FTSA) auditorium and featured officials from several institutions. Participants also accessed service modules from IMSS and the Ministry of Labor, where they received assistance with medical appointments, pension procedures, training enrollment, health check-ups, and vaccinations.
Since last year, the Deputy Ministry of Training and Employment has organized more than 20 courses designed for adults over 60, covering subjects such as digital literacy and post-retirement planning. The “Safe Retirement” program adds to these initiatives by focusing on practical information that helps older adults navigate the complexities of retirement while remaining informed of their rights.
