SAP has signed an agreement to acquire SmartRecruiters, a global provider of talent acquisition software, in a move aimed at expanding its human capital management (HCM) capabilities. The acquisition is positioned to enhance the SAP SuccessFactors HCM suite by integrating SmartRecruiters’ recruitment technology, which includes high-volume hiring tools, AI-powered candidate engagement, and recruitment automation.

“Hiring the right people is not just an HR priority, it is a business priority,”  says Muhammad Alam, Executive Board Member, SAP. “With this planned acquisition, we will help our customers attract and hire the best talent so they can advance their talent acquisition agendas with speed and agility, while lowering their total cost of ownership.”

By combining SmartRecruiters’ user-centric design and workflow efficiency with SAP’s existing HR infrastructure, the companies aim to offer a unified system for candidate sourcing, interviewing, onboarding and workforce planning. The integration will also provide customers with embedded analytics and AI-driven recommendations to support decision making, identify hiring bottlenecks, and optimize workforce strategies.

SmartRecruiters serves over 4,000 organizations globally through its Software-as-a-Service (SAAS) platform. Following the acquisition, its portfolio will continue to be available as a standalone offering for the foreseeable future, according to SAP.

“Joining forces with SAP presents a tremendous opportunity for enterprises worldwide to benefit from our industry-leading approach to talent acquisition,” says Rebecca Carr, CEO, SmartRecruiters. “I could not be more excited for the opportunity this planned acquisition presents for our customers, partners, and employees as we build the future of hiring together.”

The transaction, expected to close in the 4Q25, is subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.
