Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) are becoming increasingly common in Mexico’s human resources sector, streamlining recruitment by filtering profiles, reducing hiring times, and managing applications more efficiently. However, a recent survey by OCC’s “Termómetro Laboral” indicates that while many workers recognize the benefits of automation in recruitment, concerns and knowledge gaps remain.

When asked about the main advantages of using automation in hiring processes, 23% of respondents highlighted improved candidate filtering, 22% cited the ability to evaluate more applications in less time, and 19% said it reduced overall hiring times. Ten percent felt automation increased objectivity in selection, while 16% did not identify clear benefits and another 10% admitted they did not understand how the tools worked.

Many believe that automation is enhancing recruitment and selection, with 39% of those surveyed saying that it enabled rapid profile filtering, while 38% believed it streamlined and simplified the job search. However, 9% expressed concern that automation could make processes more impersonal.

The findings suggest that while ATS adoption has improved efficiency in recruitment, human resources teams face the challenge of addressing user unfamiliarity and ensuring a balance between technological efficiency and personal interaction.

The survey, conducted from July 28 to Aug. 3, collected responses from 1,738 workers across Mexico.
