In Mexico, Chile, Colombia, and Costa Rica, fiber optic broadband adoption has grown by 258% over the past four years, reflecting a significant shift in telecommunications infrastructure in these countries and surpassing the average fiber optic penetration among member countries of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). 

Cisco Mexico Launches Digital Skills Program for Nearshoring

Cisco Systems Mexico, in collaboration with the Ministries of Economy (SE), Education (SEP) and Labor and Social Welfare (STPS), has launched the program “Relocation in Mexico: Opportunities for Talent Development in Digital Skills”, focusing on developing digital skills to address the phenomenon of nearshoring. 

E-Commerce Growth Slows in Mexican Hardware Sector

The Mexican hardware sector is undergoing a technology-driven modernization, with e-commerce experiencing a 30% increase during the pandemic. However, recent growth has slowed to 8-10%. Javier Garcia, director, Expo Nacional Ferretera 2024, highlights that "from the smallest hardware stores to the largest, they are now managed by a new generation of leaders who are more open to digital platforms," Garcia said.

This decision allows Zipline International and Wing Aviation to perform deliveries while ensuring their drones are safely separated using advanced Unmanned Aircraft System Traffic Management (UTM) technology.

Intel to Lay Off 15,000 Workers, Cut US$10 Billion in Costs

Intel will cut over 15,000 jobs and US$10 billion in costs by 2025, addressing recent financial losses and streamlining operations. The move includes slashing R&D and marketing budgets, reducing capital expenditures, and suspending its dividend. This major restructuring aims to stabilize the company and improve efficiency amid ongoing financial challenges, states the company press release.
