In a world that is becoming increasingly digital, ensuring the security of digital data is of vital importance. To address this critical concern, the Mexican Data Center Association (MEXDC) allied with the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation (SICT) to propel the country's digital transformation through investments in the data center industry.
"MEXDC's primary objective is to propel the data center industry in our country and position it as a frontrunner in digitization and the advancement of Mexican businesses,” says Amet Novillo, President, MEXDC. Data centers serve as specifically designed locations that store and manage vast amounts of sensitive information, including personal, financial and business data that ensure the profitability and continuity of organizations in general.
Within this alliance, both organizations plan to optimize data center investments on Mexican soil. MEXDC and SICT argue that the establishment of guidelines, processes and regulations is imperative to ensure the delivery of high-quality services in the data center sector, thus fostering nationwide development and professionalization. Both institutions also acknowledge the challenge of sourcing qualified talent necessary for efficient data center management. Consequently, the institutions aim to coordinate efforts in generating and retaining talent, including providing comprehensive training programs to enhance employees' knowledge and skills in data center management.
MEXDC and SICT also engaged in discussions regarding infrastructure requirements, encompassing electrical installations, security protocols, energy efficiency measures, cabling and telecommunication system grounding, all vital components for establishing effective data centers. Notably, the infrastructure parameters set forth by both organizations align with sustainability objectives, ensuring a responsible and sustainable future for the industry. By encouraging partners and affiliates to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions, the strategic alliance will effectively manage water resources, emphasize the importance of obtaining key certifications related to energy efficiency and position itself as an attractive hub for foreign investments by exemplifying sustainable responsibility.
By harnessing the capabilities offered by data centers, businesses in Mexico can optimize their operations, reduce costs and enhance profitability through heightened efficiency. Additionally, data centers possess broader economic implications by generating employment opportunities, attracting investments and stimulating local economies. At the end of the day, the establishment of data centers in Mexico has the potential to drive investments across various sectors, including construction, power supply, telecommunications and other related industries.
With the strategic alliance between MEXDC and SICT, Mexico is poised to shape its digital future, capitalize on the benefits of data centers and position itself as a leading player in the global digital landscape. By safeguarding digital data, fostering innovation and attracting investments, Mexico is paving the way for a prosperous and technologically advanced future.
