A New Chapter for Tech, Sealed With the 'Made in Mexico' Mark
STORY INLINE POST
Receiving the "Made in Mexico" Seal from the Ministry of Economy represents a source of deep pride for QSM Semiconductors and, at the same time, a great responsibility. This recognition not only validates the quality and competitiveness of what we are building, but also symbolizes a joint effort between the private sector and the government to strengthen technological sovereignty and increase national content in high-value production chains.
The awarding of the “Made in Mexico” Seal to QSM Semiconductors is not an isolated event. It reflects a shared vision to build an integrated, competitive, and technologically self-sufficient region. QSM Semiconductors seeks to be a bridge between knowledge, innovation, and manufacturing, adding value to the North American ecosystem.
During the Mexico-US Semiconductor Forum, Chapter 5, QSM Semiconductors had the honor of receiving this distinction. We are grateful for the support of the Ministry of Economy and all the actors who are committed to consolidating a Mexican chip industry capable of generating innovation, highly specialized employment, and technological development with a long-term vision.
Our IDM Model: Mexico's Commitment to Integration
At QSM Semiconductors, we are convinced that Mexico has all the potential to become a strategic player in the global semiconductor value chain. That is why we are promoting the first IDM (Integrated Device Manufacturer) model in the country, to integrate the design, manufacture, and marketing of chips in one place.
This model allows us not only to reduce technological dependence, but also to have comprehensive national capacity, ranging from scientific knowledge and engineering to advanced manufacturing. With this, our goal is to once again receive the Made in Mexico distinction in 2026 with the first semiconductors that we will manufacture in the country, made by Mexican talent and for the Mexican industry.
The global context of recent years shows that legacy node chips — also known as mature node chips — are essential for strategic sectors such as automotive, aerospace, medical, and industrial.
Unlike the chips used in artificial intelligence, cellphones, or high-performance computing, mature node chips are at the heart of vehicles, machinery, and, in general, the control systems that move the world.
The global semiconductor shortage is having a profound impact: Companies such as Honda and Volkswagen recently announced that they have had to halt production lines due to a lack of these components, highlighting the vulnerability of supply chains and the urgent need to diversify manufacturing.
This is where Mexico has a great opportunity. Our geographical location, proximity to the United States, talented engineers, and expanding industrial infrastructure allow us to aspire to be a key partner in the regional supply of chips.
That is why at QSM Semiconductors we are directing all our efforts toward starting production of the first Mexican chips. This step will close the circle of the national value chain, from design to manufacturing and marketing, and will be a tangible symbol of our country's technological potential.
Each advance brings us closer to technological self-sufficiency and an industrial model where Mexico not only participates but leads.
The “Made in Mexico” seal we bear today is a commitment to excellence, innovation, and the future. It is also a reminder that when talent, vision, and collaboration align, Mexico can manufacture world-class technology.
