Six Flags Mexico Goes Cashless with Fiserv, FreedomPay Alliance
Six Flags Mexico and Hurricane Harbor Oaxtepec are allying with payment solutions provider Fiserv and secure commerce platforms specialist FreedomPay to enable the implementation of cashless payment systems, optimizing the visitor experience and improving the operational efficiency of both parks.
"Our financial technology solutions will allow both parks to optimize their operations and manage their revenues more efficiently, transforming not only their internal processes, but also the experience of each visitor," says Sergio Villarruel, General Manager, Fiserv Mexico. Villarruel underscores the central objective of the alliance: to modernize transaction management and increase customer satisfaction.
The adoption of cashless technology has become a global trend in the entertainment industry, driven by the need to streamline processes, reduce operating costs and improve transaction security. As previously reported by MBN, by the end of 2025, the global volume of cashless transactions is expected to grow by 80%, with Mexico emerging as a center of innovation and adoption. This boom, driven by real-time payments and digital wallets, is expected to reach a value of US$193.1 billion by 2030.
"Payments in 2025 promise transformations that will benefit both consumers and businesses, thanks to a focus on advanced, accessible, and secure digital solutions," Alejandro Del Rio, Regional Director for Latin America, Paymentology, tells MBN.
Six Flags Mexico and Hurricane Harbor Oaxtepec seek to position themselves as leaders in technological innovation within the theme park sector in Latin America. The integration of Fiserv and FreedomPay solutions will allow the parks to process payments faster and more securely, accepting multiple payment methods, including credit cards, debit cards, and mobile payments. In addition, according to Portal ERP, PCI DSS certification ensures that all transactions meet the highest security standards, which is critical in an environment where data protection is a priority.
The implemented technology includes PinPad devices that integrate with existing point-of-sale systems, facilitating fast and reliable transactions. These devices offer USB or Bluetooth connection, allowing them to be adapted to different operating environments. Alicia Rendón, Director of Business Development, FreedomPay, explained that this solution improves the parks' operational efficiency by reducing human error and offering advanced reporting capabilities.
With this platform, Six Flags Mexico and Hurricane Harbor Oaxtepec will have real-time control of all transactions, facilitating revenue management and resource optimization. In addition, the reduction of friction in payments will allow the parks to focus on improving other aspects of the visitor experience.
"This commercial alliance represents an opportunity to take a step forward in our service offering, making it more agile, faster, and safer," Humberto Garcia, Spokesperson, Six Flags Mexico and Hurricane Harbor Oaxtepec. This transformation will not only benefit visitors, but will also reinforce the position of both parks as leaders in technological innovation within the industry.
