US-based manufacturer Electrical Components International (ECI) announced an investment of more than MX$600 million (US$33 million) to build a new production facility in Torreón, Coahuila, expected to generate 1,200 direct jobs and strengthen the state’s industrial and employment growth.

The announcement, led by Governor Manolo Jiménez Salinas and Torreón Mayor Román Alberto Cepeda González, highlighted that the new plant will be located in a VYNMSA industrial park in the city’s central area. Jiménez Salinas noted that ECI already operates in Ramos Arizpe and that the company’s decision to expand in Coahuila reflects investor confidence in the state’s economic stability and security.

“In Coahuila, we know how to work as a team and stand by anyone willing to invest. We will continue creating the best conditions to attract more and better investments,” said Jiménez Salinas.

Founded in 1953 in Indiana, United States, Electrical Components International is a global leader in electrical distribution systems and advanced manufacturing. The company employs over 20,000 people across 49 locations in Asia, Europe, North America, and Mexico, supplying products to more than 500 global clients.

Luis Noé González, President of ECI’s Transportation Business Unit for North America, thanked state and local authorities for their support and emphasized Coahuila’s strategic role in the company’s regional expansion.

“We are a global company serving over 500 clients worldwide, with operations across Asia, North America, and, notably, Mexico. Coahuila represents a strategic opportunity for continued growth,” González said.

Luis Olivares Martínez, Secretary of Economy, noted that Torreón has consolidated its position as a key industrial hub in Mexico, while Mayor Román Alberto Cepeda González emphasized that the state’s security strategy has been decisive in attracting new investments.
