Zacatecas Boosts Tourism, Trade, and Investment
Zacatecas government officials met with business leaders, scholars, and diplomatic representatives to strengthen public policies in tourism, foreign trade, and investment attraction. The meeting was led by Zacatecas Minister of Economy Jorge Miranda Castro. The minister said the administration of Governor David Monreal is committed to an open and participatory government that listens to and addresses the needs of the business sector to drive economic development.
Participants discussed strategic initiatives to enhance Zacatecas’ tourism promotion, expand international trade links, and create favorable conditions for new investments. The goal is to diversify the state’s economy while generating high-quality employment opportunities.
Projects and programs were analyzed to leverage Zacatecas’ geographic location, industrial potential, and cultural and tourism assets. Officials also highlighted progress in connectivity, infrastructure, and business development, key factors for attracting domestic and foreign investment.
Representatives from business chambers and organizations participated, including CANACINTRA, Concanaco Servytur, COMCE, CMIC, CANADEVI, the Hotel and Motel Association, the Small Miners Association, and the Gas Station Association. Participants offered proposals and perspectives aimed at sustainable economic growth.
Diplomatic delegations from Spain, Honduras, El Salvador, and Colombia also attended the meeting, along with Guadalupe Mayor José Saldívar and Minister of Tourism Le Roy Barragán, who underscored the importance of collaboration between governments, the private sector, and the international community.
Corporate and academic participants included Grupo Modelo, Johnson Electric, Tecnológico de Monterrey Campus Zacatecas, Universidad de la Vera-Cruz, Universidad Autónoma de Zacatecas (UAZ), and Universidad Autónoma de Fresnillo (UAF). They highlighted the need to strengthen ties among academia, industry, and government to foster innovation and develop local talent.
Castro emphasized that active participation from productive sectors, academic institutions, and diplomatic partners is essential to consolidating a shared vision of development that benefits Zacatecas families.
