Aeroméxico and Copa Airlines are boosting investment in network expansion and digital services to enhance passenger connectivity across Latin America, airline executives said during a virtual forum hosted by Marriott International. The session, titled “Latin American Travelers: Trends, Priorities and the Future of Tourism,” explored market behavior and strategies carriers are deploying to attract and retain regional travelers.

Fernando Esqueda, Mexico Central Sales Director, Aeroméxico, noted that the airline is responding to evolving passenger expectations. “We are seeing a steady trend among Latin American travelers seeking more authentic and purposeful experiences,” he said. “Customers want benefits that create meaningful, unique experiences.”

Aeroméxico is investing in onboard service improvements and connectivity. “We are enhancing onboard services, including gastronomy and in-flight entertainment, and rolling out Wi-Fi across our entire fleet—Boeing 737s, 787 Dreamliners, and Embraer 190s,” Esqueda said. “This ensures travelers remain connected even in flight.”

The airline has also introduced products to simplify travel, such as an eSIM for mobile connectivity worldwide, and is expanding its route network with new direct flights from Mexico City to Cartagena, Cali, Punta Cana, and Philadelphia. A new route to San Juan, Puerto Rico will begin next week.

Copa Airlines is pursuing a similar strategy with a focus on operational consistency. “The most important thing is to gain the trust and confidence of travelers,” said Paola Castaño, Regional Sales Manager for the Andean countries. She emphasized punctuality, safety, and quality of service as the airline’s core pillars.

Copa is strengthening connectivity through its Hub of the Americas in Panama, offering 85 destinations across the region, including 17 routes to the United States. New routes this year include San Jose Cabo (Mexico), Puerto Plata and Santiago de los Caballeros (Dominican Republic), while service to Bahia, Brazil will resume.
