The Mexican Aerospace Fair (FAMEX) highlighted that the aerospace sector’s growth depends on shared responsibility among the government, armed forces, and industry, said Brig. Gen. Disraelí Gómez Herrera, Director of the FAMEX 2025 Organizing Committee. His remarks were made during the award ceremony of the International Robotics and Technology Competition, organized by the Robotic International Summit (RIS), where FAMEX was honored for its contributions to the sector.
“FAMEX fosters dialogue and negotiation through panels, conferences, and knowledge sharing to promote sustainable technological research and strengthen the aerospace manufacturing supply chain,” Gómez stated.
He emphasized the need to boost domestic consumption of locally produced goods and work with authorities to manufacture required components. “The sector still needs a significant push,” he said, urging national companies to clearly define their requirements to encourage domestic production and design, which could drive industry growth.
“We must determine whether these products meet our standards—I believe they do. The armed forces are evaluating these developments, and FAMEX 2025 provided commanders with the opportunity to see these aircraft firsthand,” Gómez added, expressing confidence that within the next decade, some of these models could join the Air Force fleet.
FAMEX 2025, held from April 23 to 26, gathered representatives from 48 countries, 38 embassies, 150 organizations, and more than 100,000 visitors. The event received the RIS 2024 First Place Award in the Institutional Trajectory Category for promoting technological innovation and strengthening Mexico’s aerospace industry. The award was presented by Maj. Gen. José Antonio Sierra Amador, Commander of Air Base No. 1, in the presence of military and civilian authorities, including leaders from the Mexican Federation of the Aerospace Industry (FEMIA).
