Mexico, US Sign Protocol to Resume Cattle Exports
The Mexican Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (SADER) and the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) have signed a protocol outlining measures to resume the export of Mexican cattle to the United States. The suspension of these exports was triggered after a case of the cattle tick-borne disease was detected in an animal arriving from Central America on Nov. 21 in Chiapas.
Under the new protocol, both the National Service of Health, Safety, and Agri-Food Quality (SENASICA) and USDA personnel will jointly inspect cattle intended for export to ensure they meet the required sanitary conditions. These inspections are part of a comprehensive effort to restore trade flows while maintaining the necessary health and safety standards.
