DiDi has announced its membership in the Electric Mobility Association (EMA), a coalition focused on promoting electric mobility in Mexico. The company recently initiated a project aiming to add 100,000 electric vehicles to its fleet by 2030, involving an investment of 1 billion pesos and positioning DiDi as the operator of the largest electric vehicle fleet in Latin America.
“Welcoming DiDi as a member of the Electric Mobility Association is a milestone. Their goal to integrate 100,000 electric vehicles by 2030 reflects the commitment needed to advance our strategic pillars: reducing emissions, creating regulatory frameworks that support EV adoption, deploying charging infrastructure, and promoting economic development while fostering understanding of this technology,” stated Eugenio Grandio, president, EMA.
To meet its target, DiDi has established partnerships based on four foundational pillars:
- Vehicles and Fleet: Ensuring the availability of affordable electric cars for drivers.
- Infrastructure: Encouraging the development of charging stations nationwide.
- Financing and Insurance: Facilitating financing schemes and insurance options for acquiring electric vehicles.
- Government: Collaborating with authorities to advance public policies that promote electric mobility.
As a member of the EMA, DiDi has committed to supporting the coalition's mission to foster the adoption of electric vehicles through collaboration with stakeholders, including charging infrastructure providers, vehicle manufacturers, financial institutions, and government entities.
Juan Andrés Panamá, General Director, DiDi in Mexico and Latin America, stated, “Today marks a step toward a sustainable future for Mexico. This announcement, in partnership with the EMA, represents a move toward technological innovation and reinforces our commitment to environmental improvement and air quality in our cities. Together, we are working toward a new era of mobility that will benefit future generations, and we appreciate the ecosystem's support in achieving this goal.”
