Kia Mexico Posts Record 111,172 Vehicle Sales
Kia Mexico closed 2025 with record vehicle sales, reporting 111,172 units sold from January to December. This 6.5% increase, compared with 2024, was driven mainly by models manufactured at its Nuevo Leon plant. The result marked the strongest annual performance in the brand’s history in the Mexican market and outpaced overall industry growth, which stood at 1.3% for the year.
December was also a record month for the South Korean automaker. Kia Mexico sold 10,393 light vehicles during the month, representing a 9.4% increase compared with December 2024. The company says locally produced vehicles played a central role in the monthly and annual results.
Models assembled in Mexico accounted for the bulk of growth. The K3 remained Kia’s best-selling vehicle in the country, posting year-on-year growth of 9.6%. The K4, also produced locally, ranked as the brand’s third best-selling model by year-end, reinforcing the strategic role of Mexico as a manufacturing hub for Kia’s compact vehicle lineup.
Electrified vehicles also gained relevance in the company’s sales mix. The Sportage HEV showed notable traction, with hybrid versions accounting for 28% of total Sportage sales by the end of 2025, reflecting growing consumer adoption of hybrid technology within the brand’s portfolio.
With a market share of 7.3% in 2025, Kia consolidated its position within the top five automotive brands in Mexico. Despite the record performance, the company remains in competition for fourth place in national sales rankings, facing strong pressure from Japanese rival, Toyota.l
The results come amid broader momentum in Mexico’s automotive sector, which reached its highest sales level in eight years during 2025. Kia’s performance, however, significantly exceeded market averages, underscoring the contribution of domestic manufacturing, portfolio renewal, and increased demand for hybrid vehicles to its commercial strategy in Mexico
Last year, KIA celebrated its 10th anniversary in Mexico by inaugurating two new facilities to strengthen its operations and after-sales service in northern Mexico, reports MBN. These included a Recruitment Center in Apodaca that aims to enhance the hiring process by introducing candidates to KIA’s operational culture and production areas, including stamping, welding, painting, and assembly. “Since the company’s arrival 10 years ago, we have found the best talent in this region. Recruitment has been key for KIA, as thanks to our employees we have consolidated our position as the leading automotive operation in the country,” says Young Sam Kim, President, KIA México.
The other facility is its second major logistics warehouse, located at the Interpuerto Industrial Park in Salinas Victoria. The facility focuses on improving after-sales service in northern Mexico by offering deliveries within 24 hours, enhanced handling with zero damage, guaranteed 100% punctuality, and a Will Call service allowing distributors to collect parts directly.
