The Ministry of Economy (SE) has granted the “Hecho en México” certification to Bacardí for two of its tequila brands: Patrón and Cazadores.

The certification was presented at a ceremony in Mexico City led by Carlos Candelaria López, head of the Unit of Prospective, Planning and Evaluation, and María Araceli de Haas Matamoros, general director in the Economy Secretariat.

Officials emphasized that the label goes beyond packaging, serving as an official endorsement of origin, quality, and authenticity for products made in Mexico. For tequila, it also highlights the country’s position as a global leader in the spirits industry.

Bacardí has operated in Mexico for more than 90 years. Its first plant outside Cuba opened in Mexico City in 1930, followed by the Tultitlan facility in the State of Mexico in 1961. The site supplies both the domestic market and exports to Central and South America.

Candelaria highlighted Bacardí’s strong brand recognition among Mexican consumers, noting that surveys show over 90% familiarity with the company. He said this reinforces the value of joining the “Hecho en México” program.

Representing Economy Minister Marcelo Ebrard, De Haas stated that the certification confirms Tequila Patrón and Tequila Cazadores meet national production standards. She added that tequila, with its denomination of origin, is one of Mexico’s best-known products and a driver of agri-industrial exports.

“With this seal, Patrón and Cazadores become ambassadors of the country brand, representing what Mexico produces,” De Haas said.

The initiative is part of the government’s Plan México, which seeks to strengthen economic growth, generate quality employment, and position the country as a hub of high-value production.

The certificates were received on behalf of Bacardí by Daniel Aliaga Gargollo, vice president of commercial operations for Latin America, and Guillermo Eduardo Donaire Forga, vice president of supply chain for Latin America.
