IKEA, a store dedicated to the production and distribution of packaged furniture, recently arrived in Mexico and its success impressed the company beyond expectations. The company has now announced it will be opening another IKEA store in Puebla in the first half of 2022, at the Vía San Ángel mall.

As previously reported by MBN, IKEA’s original idea was to open its first store in Mexico City’s Oceania Mall in October 2020. Since then, the plan has changed abruptly. First, the date of the physical store opening changed to February 2021. Now, after noticing the success enjoyed only from its online store, the company plans to open a new branch in Puebla. According to IKEA’s press release, the store will have an extension of 11,500m2 and a restaurant for 380 people. It is also mentioned that IKEA is glad to have the opportunity to open more stores across Mexico because it will provide new jobs, which are essential to the country’s recovery.

Job creation has been a priority for IKEA. Just a few weeks ago, the company showed interest in employing former Best Buy employees, “We are supporting Best Buy and its workers to find a job opportunity through virtual fairs, following our job creation campaign given our opening at Encuentro Oceanía,” reported MBN

IKEA also mentioned it would continue to work on its website. “The pandemic has caused logistical problems for many companies throughout the world and we have been affected locally and globally. This, added to the very positive response from Mexican consumers, has created a demand that exceeds what we had anticipated. We know that many consumers expect to receive their purchases as soon as possible and we are working to deliver faster and expand our home delivery coverage.”

Online furniture sales have exploded during the pandemic, according to MBN, particularly in Europe, North America and Asia. In Mexico, according to AMVO, it is estimated that e-commerce will grow five times over the next three years and up to 10 times in the next 10 years.

IKEA’s latest press release mentions that the company also plans to introduce Space therapy as a new concept. “Our organization experts will teach us the best Space therapy techniques so you discover that inner peace at home is possible,” said the company.
