Mercado Libre has inaugurated a new distribution center in Tezontepec, Hidalgo, as part of a US$300 million investment plan aimed at strengthening its operational network in Mexico. This facility is the first of three logistics hubs the company plans to establish in the state, generating more than 7,000 direct jobs.

David Geisen, Country Manager, Mercado Libre Mexico, said that the investment in Hidalgo demonstrates the company's commitment to enhancing its infrastructure and creating jobs in the region.

“The new Mercado Libre facility brings new opportunities to the people of Hidalgo. With resources, a strategic location, and local talent, we are positioning Hidalgo as a leader in national economic development,” said Julio Menchaca Salazar, Governor, Hidalgo.

In addition to the Hidalgo site, Mercado Libre has expanded its operations in the State of Mexico with a new warehouse in Tultepec, which is set to create another 3,000 direct jobs in the region. Both the Hidalgo and Tultepec centers are designed to handle over 400,000 daily shipments each, incorporating automation and technology to enhance efficiency, Geisen noted.

With these two new sites, Mercado Libre will conclude 2024 with a total of 11 distribution centers across Mexico.
