Beatriz Robles Named President of Senate Energy Commission
Senator Beatriz Robles of the ruling MORENA party has been appointed president of the Senate’s Energy Commission, following a vote in the chamber on Tuesday. The leadership shift was formalized through an agreement by the Political Coordination Board (JUCOPO), filling the position left vacant after Senator Laura Castillo assumed the presidency of the Senate.
Robles, who represents the state of Queretaro, brings both private sector and political experience to the role. She holds a degree in Food Engineering from Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) and a Master’s in Marketing from UNAM. Her professional background spans from quality inspection at Jumex to leadership positions in production and quality at Panificadora Alcatraz. She later served as product manager at 3M México and as director general at Terrafix GmbH in Germany.
Her political trajectory includes serving as federal deputy in the LXIV Legislature and currently as a senator. Beyond her new role in energy, she also serves as secretary of the Foreign Relations Commission for Europe and is a member of commissions on Science, Humanities, Technology and Innovation; Education; and Railway Infrastructure.
