CENAGAS, IMP Announce Collaboration for Gas System
The National Center for Natural Gas Control (CENAGAS) celebrated its 11th anniversary, reaffirming its role in ensuring a secure and reliable supply of natural gas in Mexico. During the commemorative event, CENAGAS Director General Cuitláhuac García highlighted a new framework agreement signed with the Mexican Oil Institute (IMP). The agreement is intended to strengthen research, technological innovation, and operational safety within the natural gas system.
García said that during his first year, he has focused on field supervision, inspecting compression stations, pipelines, and other strategic points across the country to improve operational security and reliability.
Juan José Vidal, Deputy Minister of Hydrocarbons, said that new energy legislation emphasizes security, sovereignty, planning, and energy justice for the benefit of the Mexican people. He stated that CENAGAS plays a key role in this by consolidating the efficient and safe operation of SISTRANGAS, the national integrated natural gas transportation and storage system. Vidal Amaro noted that natural gas is a strategic fuel for Mexico's energy transition and that CENAGAS will continue to be a pillar of this strategy.
IMP Reaffirms Partnership
Elizabeth Mar Juárez, Director General, IMP, said the alliance with CENAGAS will enhance both institutions' capabilities and open new avenues for cooperation. She added that the collaboration is a platform for generating innovative solutions and strengthening energy sovereignty. Mar Juárez stated that a solid energy policy is built on science, knowledge, and collaboration. The event was attended by officials from the energy sector, including Rocío Adriana Abreu, President, Energy Commission of the Chamber of Deputies.
