CFE to Invest US$2 Billion in PEMEX Cogeneration Projects

CFE plans to invest more than US$2 billion in cogeneration projects at two PEMEX refineries and a petrochemical complex, a move that aligns with the government's broader strategy to strengthen the country’s energy infrastructure. 

Government Announces US$22.3 Billion Electricity Expansion Plan

President Claudia Sheinbaum presented the Plan for Strengthening and Expanding the National Electric System 2025-2030, which will involve an estimated investment of US$22.3 billion and add 22,674MW to the country’s power grid. The plan includes 51 electricity projects led by CFE, with private sector participation contributing 6,400MW, primarily from renewable sources. 

National Energy Commission to Operate With Technical Committee

Mexico’s newly established National Energy Commission (CNE) will oversee the country’s hydrocarbon and electricity sectors through a Technical Committee, a key element in the regulatory overhaul introduced under President Claudia Sheinbaum’s energy reform.
