The government of Puebla, led by Governor Alejandro Armenta, is undertaking two strategic projects focused on energy transition and technological innovation. The governor stated that these initiatives align with the vision of President Claudia Sheinbaum to connect inclusive companies with technology for development and environmental protection. The projects aim to generate community wealth in Puebla.

The State Energy Agency of Puebla, under its Director Rodolfo Camacho, presented the initiatives. The first is an agrovoltaic project in Tianguismanalco, a collaboration with the National Institute of Astrophysics, Optics and Electronics (INAOE) and the Ministry of Science, Humanities, Technology and Innovation. This project will install a vertical photovoltaic structure for agricultural irrigation, benefiting 30 farming families across 40ha of crops. It is expected to reduce 94.5t of CO2 and add 164.2KW of installed capacity to the state by 2025. The solar panels for this project will be locally produced by the Tonalli Solar Panel Factory. This model is designed for a dual use of the land, simultaneously producing energy, water, and food.

The second initiative is a lithium exploration and identification project, developed in coordination with UNAM. This project will provide the state government with a scientific report on the location, size, and concentration of lithium geological anomalies. The press release notes that in Mexico, the exploration and extraction of lithium is exclusively reserved for LitioMx, a decentralized public entity. Seven municipalities in Puebla have been identified with a presence of lithium anomalies: Teotlalco, Chietla, San Diego la Mesa Tochimiltzingo, Cuayuca de Andrade, Coatzingo, Tepexi de Rodríguez, and Zacapala.
