SENER, IDB Discuss Clean Energy Projects
Luz Elena González, Minister of Energy, met with Ilan Goldfajn, President, Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and his team to discuss Mexico's energy projects. The meeting focused on initiatives that promote sustainable energy development and enhance infrastructure in the sector.
One of the key projects discussed is the exploration of geothermal wells in Baja California and Baja California Sur, announced at the end of October. These wells, which will reach depths of up to 3.5km, represent a significant step in Mexico's energy transition efforts. The project is expected to take a little over a year and will involve a specialized private contractor to provide services to the National Institute of Electricity and Clean Energies (INEEL).
Through her X account, González emphasized the importance of the collaboration between Mexico and the IDB in advancing the country's energy transition. " IDB, as a strategic ally, will be key in the implementation of initiatives that allow us to consolidate the energy transition and strengthen the infrastructure of the sector," she stated.
This partnership aims to promote sustainable energy development, which will contribute to the well-being of Mexican families and support Mexico's goals for cleaner energy. The ongoing geothermal project in Baja California is a notable example of these efforts, showcasing Mexico's commitment to leveraging clean energy sources for its future energy needs.
