Driving Biomedical Innovation Through Strong Alliances
STORY INLINE POST
Q: What role does Art Técnica play in the Mexican market?
A: Mexico has a significant need to expand access to quality healthcare services, so quality in healthcare delivery will always be a competitive advantage. It is essential to encourage the market to adopt ethical practices, embrace advanced technologies, and pursue growth through structured processes. The use of quality systems in healthcare supports patient health and safety.
Q: How has Art Técnica expanded or refined its services to meet the evolving needs of biomedical and clinical engineers in Mexico?
A: There is a need for high-tech equipment and highly trained biomedical engineers. Over the past three years, we have focused on both areas. The brand we distribute, Fluke Biomedical, has also been working to develop advanced technologies and products. Our priority is to provide the technical support that field biomedical engineers require, while making available the measurement tools and biomedical equipment that are necessary to ensure they can carry out accurate and high-quality assessments of medical devices.
Q: How do biomedical engineers benefit from working with Art Técnica?
A: Once biomedical engineers graduate and begin working in the field, they quickly recognize the need to address internal challenges within their organizations. Their curiosity and drive to meet these demands lead them to seek support in developing their biomedical engineering departments. This has allowed us to build mutually beneficial relationships with them, as we have been able to support them through the full scope of our platform.
We operate across several areas and have established partnerships with software companies. Just as software has helped them manage operations and inventories more effectively, our technical support, consulting services, and shared knowledge have played a significant role in helping them address internal needs. A large portion of these needs relates to equipment, measurement tools, regulatory compliance, and post-market surveillance of medical technologies. Altogether, these elements translate into tangible benefits for their hospitals’ biomedical engineering departments.
Q: How have your partnerships with universities evolved, and what impact have they had on the development of new biomedical engineers?
A: We have sought to provide support on demand. We have found that workshops are an excellent mechanism, both for companies and for us, to engage with biomedical engineering students in a meaningful way. These workshops offer students highly valuable hands-on experience. In some cases, our training programs also provide certification opportunities, which add a distinctive value to their academic and professional profiles. For example, a student applying for a job will present a much stronger résumé if it includes recognized certifications that support their technical skills, especially when those certifications are backed by reputable brands.
Art Técnica has successfully implemented a demand-driven approach with universities, allowing us to support students, ultimately enhancing their employability and making them more attractive candidates.
Q: How has your partnership with TINC CMMS evolved, and what measurable impact has it had on your clients’ operations or your internal processes?
A: Long-term partnerships provide help in navigating the market. When we began our partnership with TINC CMMS, both of us operated within a defined niche but we have expanded thanks to the strength of the partnership. For our clients, users, and collaborators, these alliances translate directly into greater efficiency.
A biomedical engineering department that operates with a solid software foundation, robust test automation systems, and reliable equipment, enhances compliance and effectively strengthens operational safeguards. This allows hospitals to be confident that all documentation managed through these platforms will meet regulatory compliance standards.
We also maintain a valuable partnership with a provider of radiology services and X-ray technologies. These relationships have proven to be extremely valuable, and we are now working to expand them on an international scale.
Q: What challenges limited Art Técnica’s market expansion, and how is the company overcoming them?
A: Our business is highly dependent on market liquidity. Demand typically emerges when there is sufficient liquidity in the market. This liquidity is starting to materialize in the second half of the year. We are seeing a more dynamic market, with purchasing activity increasing.
Long-term partnerships with reputable entities, combined with solutions that address real needs in the field, allow us to withstand periods of low liquidity. A strong ethical foundation, deep technical and technological expertise, a solid reputation, and business integrity are growth long-term drivers. It is also common in this industry to see new players entering the market with short-term strategies. Unfortunately, these strategies often fail because they overlook the fundamentals required for sustainability.
Q: What strategies does Art Técnica use to maintain relevance in a rapidly evolving market?
A: We aim to stay at the forefront of technological developments and to serve as an operational bridge between biomedical professionals and the technologies they work with, enabling them to succeed in the application of these tools. Over the past 10 years, this has been a key driver of our growth. We operate with transparency and integrity. The moment one compromises on transparency or ethics, the risk of making critical mistakes increases significantly. It is essential to remain vigilant. Committing to ethics, embracing technology, and focusing on providing real solutions to clients is a robust formula for sustainability and relevance in the market.
Q: What are Art Técnica’s key strategic priorities for the next three to five years, and how do you plan to strengthen your presence in the biomedical technology and metrology sector?
A: Our short-term objective is to obtain relevant certifications, including the ISO/IEC 17025 standard. This certification serves as an internationally recognized mark of quality, ensuring that anyone relying on measurements from our equipment can trust that those processes meet world-class standards.
Moving forward, we will continue to reinforce the pillars that have defined our strategy and add certified quality processes to significantly strengthen our value proposition, providing clients with exactly what they seek: operational safety and improved processes.
