Pearson Launches Fast, Secure Online English Test

Pearson has launched the Pearson English Express Test, a fully online English proficiency exam designed for speed, accessibility, and security. The test complements Pearson’s existing PTE Academic offering.

“The Pearson English Express Test combines speed, accessibility, and reliability, backed by over 30 years of experience developing internationally recognized assessments,” says Cinthia Nespoli, CEO, Pearson Brazil. 

Developed by Pearson’s English Language Learning (ELL) division, the Pearson English Express Test targets digitally native users seeking flexible, on-demand solutions. The exam can be taken from any location with a computer and internet connection, offering modular scheduling and a consumer-oriented experience. The launch aligns with findings from Pearson’s “Languages and Skills” survey, conducted with Opinion Box, which revealed that 42% of Brazilians use free apps to learn English, and 40% study independently. The test provides a credible option for assessing English proficiency for professional requirements or educational purposes, particularly for students aiming to study in the United States.

The test is positioned as a mid-level alternative for candidates who do not require high-stakes immigration or academic exams like the PTE Academic. Pearson combines advanced anti-fraud technologies with specialized human supervision to maintain the integrity of results even in remote settings. “By combining cutting-edge technology with strict security protocols, we democratize access without compromising quality,” says Nespoli.

The Pearson English Express Test is expected to support universities and other institutions in expanding program reach, providing a cost-effective, convenient, and recognized assessment option, says the company.
