Grupo Actinver has become the trustee for 16 Mexican Real Estate Investment Trusts (FIBRAs), a significant expansion of its role in the sector following the regulatory intervention of CIBanco. Actinver now serves as the trustee for 11 FIBRAs and five FIBRA Es.

The shift comes after the US Treasury accused CIBanco, along with other financial institutions, of alleged money laundering, which prompted many companies to seek a new fiduciary. CIBanco previously handled approximately 26% of all trusts in the country. Several FIBRAs, including FIBRA Shop, FIBRA Storage, FIBRA Terrafina, and FIBRA Prologis, have since transitioned to new trustees, with Actinver emerging as a more prominent player, reports El Economista. "We want to grow, but cautiously, as the trust of our clients is the most important thing. For this reason, we are strengthening our processes and carefully reviewing each case," said Luis Hernández, Director General, Actinver.

Hernández noted that there is significant investor appetite for the FIBRA sector, a trend highlighted by the recent successful IPO of FIBRA Next, which saw considerable over-demand for its certificates. He stated that while it is difficult to predict a specific growth number, the company expects to significantly expand and consolidate its position in the trust business.

Actinver is the second-largest trust administrator in the country, with over MX$900.46 billion (US$48.2 billion) in assets under its surveillance. According to the company's internal projections, it could eventually manage up to 60% of the FIBRA market.
