Construction Production Value Drops 14% in October 2025

The production value of construction companies in Mexico registered a year-on-year 14% contraction in October 2025, reports INEGI. While states like Quintana Roo registered triple-digit growth, others like Oaxaca reported contractions above 40%.
INEGI’s National Survey on Construction Companies (ENEC) reports that the production value of construction companies in Mexico registered a slight increase of 0.1% in October 2025 compared to the previous month.
While the production value showed marginal monthly growth, total personnel occupied in the construction sector increased by 0.2% in October compared to September 2025. Broken down by employment type, personnel not dependent on the company saw a rise of 4.2%, whereas dependent personnel increased by 0.1%.
Within the category of dependent personnel, the number of workers grew by 0.3%, and the “others” group, which includes owners and unpaid family workers, rose by 0.2%. Conversely, administrative, accounting, and managerial employees saw a decline of 0.4%. Year-over-year, occupied personnel decreased by 6.8% compared to October 2024.
The survey reported a 1.4% monthly increase in total hours worked within construction companies. Hours worked by non-dependent personnel rose by 2.2%, while those for dependent personnel increased by 1.3%. Compared to the same month in 2024, total hours worked fell by 7.0%.
Regarding earnings, real average remuneration increased by 0.4% in October 2025 compared to the previous month. Wages paid to workers rose by 1.1%, while salaries for administrative and managerial staff decreased by 1%. Annually, the real average remuneration recorded a growth of 3%.
Performance by State
INEGI also provided original figures detailing the performance of construction companies by federal entity. In annual terms, the states with the highest growth in production value were Quintana Roo with a growth rate of 140%, Guerrero with 42.7%, and Baja California Sur at 41.1%.
In contrast, the states recording the most significant annual declines in production value were Oaxaca, which recorded a contraction of 73.3%, Campeche of 68.1%, and Tabasco at 64.0%. At the national level, the unadjusted annual variation for production value was a negative 13.6%.
