Construction Sector Grows 0.8% in March 2025
Mexico's industrial activity decreased by 0.9% in March 2025 compared to the previous month, reports INEGI. While other sectors reported decreases, the construction industry was the only one that reported growth at 0.8% during the month.
According to INEGI’s Monthly Indicator of Industrial Activity (IMAI), construction was the only sector that grew, showing 0.8% growth in March 2025. In contrast, mining decreased by 2.7%, while manufacturing and generation, transmission, distribution, and commercialization of electric energy, supply of water, and natural gas to the final consumer saw a decrease of 1.1% each.
Year-on-year, construction was also the only component to advance, growing by 2.1%. This contrasted with declines in other sectors, such as mining, which fell by 10.1%; the generation, transmission, distribution, and commercialization of electric energy, supply of water, and natural gas to the final consumer sector, contracting 3.4%; and manufacturing, which fell by 1%.
