ISE Labs Acquires Land in Jalisco for New Semiconductor Facility
ISE Labs, a premier provider of semiconductor engineering services, acquired a prime parcel of land in the Axis 2 Industrial Park, located in Tonala, Jalisco. This land acquisition sets the stage for the establishment of a new semiconductor packaging and testing facility, positioning ISE Labs for future expansion in the region.
“We are excited to strengthen ISE’s partnership with the state of Jalisco by securing future business expansion through our purchase of land in Tonala. This proactive investment demonstrates ISE’s commitment to innovation, growth, and its valued relationship with the state of Jalisco. It also provides business flexibility to expand as demand for semiconductor packaging and testing continues to grow throughout North America,” says Kenneth Hsiang, CEO, ISE Labs.
ISE Labs, a wholly owned subsidiary of ASE Technology Holding Company, the largest semiconductor assembly and test provider globally, specializes in the design, engineering, and scale-up of cutting-edge semiconductor devices. The new facility will focus on the packaging and testing of semiconductor chips, a crucial aspect of semiconductor manufacturing that is essential to meeting growing global demand.
The establishment of a semiconductor packaging and testing facility in Tonala will enhance ASE’s presence in North America and provide a unique opportunity for the company to meet the increasing demand for advanced semiconductor services. The facility is expected to create over 500 new jobs in its first year of operation, contributing significantly to the local economy.
ISE Labs’ investment aligns with the state’s strategic objectives to drive technological advancement and economic development. Jalisco is already a leading player in Mexico’s semiconductor industry, accounting for 70% of the nation’s market share. The region’s robust infrastructure, skilled workforce, and thriving technology ecosystem make it an ideal location for ASE’s expansion.
The success of the new facility will rely on the recruitment of highly specialized engineers and technicians. To support this need, ISE Labs will work closely with the Jalisco State Ministry of Economic Development (SEDECO), the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology (SICyT), and the Ministry of Education (SEP). These partnerships will foster collaboration with local educational institutions and help develop training programs to ensure the availability of a skilled workforce.
Through this new investment, ASE aims to contribute to the region’s growing semiconductor sector, while also positioning Jalisco as a leading destination for semiconductor assembly and testing services in Latin America.
“This administration has successfully transformed our semiconductor and advanced electronics manufacturing services industry into a new model focused on technology and innovation. ASE is a leading global company that represents the future and it has selected Guadalajara, Jalisco, for this strategic investment that will bring important projects to our state,” says Enrique Alfaro, Governor of the Jalisco.
