On Jan. 20, Mayor of Mexico City Clara Brugada authorized the expropriation of a 413.64m² property in the Santa Maria Ticoman neighborhood to build Station 2 of the “Cuautepec-Indios Verdes” Cablebús system. This move, aimed at improving urban mobility, is part of a broader initiative to expand and enhance the city’s public transportation infrastructure, ensuring faster, safer, and more sustainable travel for thousands of commuters.

The property is located in the Santa Maria Ticoman neighborhood, in the Gustavo A. Madero borough. It will be allocated to the Public Transport Regulatory Agency for the construction of Station 2 of Line 1 of the “Cuautepec-Indios Verdes” Cablebús system.

The expropriation follows a cost-benefit analysis conducted by the Public Transport Regulatory Agency that highlights the need to improve urban mobility in the area through a cable-based public transportation system. The system, which includes the Cablebús, aims to provide a fast, efficient, safe, and environmentally friendly public transportation service, benefiting thousands of users across Mexico City.

Line 1 has six stations: Indios Verdes, Ticoman, La Pastora, Campos Revolucion, Cuautepec, and Tlalpexco. This transportation system can move a total of 5,000 people per hour, with 377 cabins, each capable of holding 10 people. The travel time is 33 minutes, offering fast, safe, and comfortable rides that will connect with Metro Lines 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6, Metrobús Lines 1, 3, and 4, and the Mexibús.

The “Cuautepec-Indios Verdes” Line 1 project is part of a broader effort to develop high-quality public transport infrastructure in line with the principles of social equity, accessibility, safety, and sustainability. Additionally, the implementation of an integrated, multimodal transportation system is essential to meet the growing social and environmental needs of the capital, say authorities.
